 "Company East
" bring their own unique style, dynamic and flamboyant direct
and choreograph by " Kenji Kawaraski", to the play
combine a fusion of traditional Noh Theatre, western theatre
and jazz dance. Suitable for all ages.
Founder of Company East,
Hiroshi Jin, started dancing at an early age.He continued his
studies in New York and started performing in musicals.He played
in the controversial gay musical, "Maurice" and first
female role as "Salome" and also shone as the evil
queen, "Medea" and "Lady Macbeth".
The company created a stir
at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2001 when their show, Medea,
was awarded the Scotsman 5 stars. The show was also highly acclaimed
at the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2002 and the Avignon Festival
2002,and also Montreal Festival 2003. Powerful
acting, innovative direction, and exotic costumes awed the audience.
Company East toured Greece in 1996 and
became the first Oriental company to perform at the ancient ruins
of Cyprus, Kurio in 1997.It won the popularity vote in the Rarunaka
Festival in 1997 and was once again invited to perform for the
Japan Greece Friendship centennial in 1999.
